ENCCA Network Manager CCRI - Children´s Cancer Research Institute

We are looking for an experienced project manager to administer a major Network of Excellence in Paediatric Oncology involving a European consortium financed by an FP7 grant. The European Network for Cancer in Childhood and Adolescents (ENCCA) is coordinated by the Children’s Cancer Research Institute (CCRI). The project integrates a large number of informal, investigator-driven research networks in pediatric and adolescent oncology currently active in Europe to improve patient care and access to tailored medicines, and will establish European scientific excellence in pediatric and adolescent oncology.

Range of Activities

For this task we are looking for a skilled Project Manager working closely with the Network of Excellence Coordinator (NoEC) to take on responsibility for the progress monitoring, financial and administrative management on a day-to-day basis. In order to ensure an efficient and active management of these tasks, you will interact with the Project Management Team consisting of the NoEM and the dissemination manager in Brussels as well as of four high profile European Paediatric Oncologists. The ENCCA project comprises 32 European partners and has a grant period of 4 years.
A Quality Assurance Plan and Methodology (ideally using MS Project) and reporting templates are already established to support the internal management requirements and expedited reporting. You will ensure that the technical objectives are followed but also that the project is completed within the approved budget. For the control of costs, the consortium will follow the FP7 requirements. The first year project reporting has already been finalised.

Detailed Task description

  • You will be working in close contact with all the partners.
  • You will be creating common working and reporting tools and follow up on the project indicators (Gantt chart, manpower matrix, deliverables list).
  • You will be managing the delivery and the follow-up of administrative and financial documents and be monitoring cost performance. You will be taking the necessary measures to ensure the appropriate use of the FP7 grant by providing a time schedule for the transferring of funds allocated within the consortium. You will be in charge of obtaining certificates on financial statements and will have to report to the respective contact persons in the European Commission.
  • You will support the NoEC in all administrative tasks, in particular with regard to meetings, notifying the ENCCA consortium of due dates and/or dissemination of project results.

Your profile

Ideally, you have a PhD in life sciences or an MD education. You have been successfully involved in grants acquisitions and are experienced in research management in academic institutions and/or the industry and you hold a project management certification. You have experience in the administrative management of projects involving several institutions, ideally on an international level. You have performed project management in projects of the 6th or 7th framework of the European Commission either in a partner or in the coordinating organization. You have intercultural competence and excellent written and oral communication skills in English. We expect you to have up-to-date user skills in MS-Office including MS-Project and are well-versed in modern information- and communication-technologies.
