Project Coordinator - Transparency International

Transparency International Belgium (TI-B), the Belgian chapter of TI, is looking for a highly motivated Project Coordinator.
Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organization promoting integrity and leading the fight against corruption. TI currently has more than 90 National Chapters around the world.
Transparency International Belgium (TI-B), the Belgian chapter of TI, is currently finalizing the evaluation of the “National Integrity System” (NIS) of Belgium and is about to embark on a large national advocacy campaign. In this context, TI-B is looking for a highly motivated Project Coordinator with a good experience in advocacy and media work.
Reporting lines: Reports to the Management Committee (Board level)
Location: 1000 Brussels
Fixed term contract until end December 2012. May be followed by a permanent employment contract.
Key responsibilities of the project coordinator
He/she will, with the support of the full time project manager, carry responsibility for the day-to-day management and implementation of projects.
His/her critical responsibilities are:
  • General direction and leadership for the projects
  • Planning and coordination
  • Overall and financial project management, planning and reporting
  • Organisation of workshops and public events
  • Concerted advocacy on the reports and its findings with a view to sustainable change
  • Active contribution to the multi-country dimension of the project, and collaboration with the other EU project partners
  • Fundraising
Knowledge, experience and skills required and desirable for the position of project coordinator:
Key attributes:
  • At least 3 years project management experience,
  • Sound understanding of financial management and control, including previous budgetary responsibility. Experience with EC grant management and projects implementation is an advantage
  • Demonstrable experience in, campaigning and advocacy tools and techniques
  • A knowledge of current anti-corruption discourse and good governance issues is a distinct advantage
  • Self-starter and able to take initiatives within a set framework
  • Able to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Highly developed relationship management and intercultural communication skills
  • Previous NGO experience is an advantage
  • University degree in relevant field (e.g. business administration, law, economics, political science, development studies, journalism etc.)
  • Fluency in French and Dutch; good knowledge of English
  • Computer literacy, including advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
