Researcher / Political Analyst

The Center for Security Studies (CSS – www.css.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich, a university-based research institute and think-tank, seeks to employ, at the earliest, a

Researcher / Political Analyst (80% 100%)

You will produce analysis on strategic trends and key issues in international security. In your capacity as an analyst with broad-ranging expertise in geopolitical developments and security policy, you will contribute to the CSS think-tank products and activities (www.sta.ethz.ch). In addition, you will be in charge of a specific research field within the institute. Your area of responsibility also includes publishing in external formats and maintaining contacts with foreign partner institutes.


Qualifications


  • University degree (MA, preferably PhD) in political science/international relations or a related discipline;
  • Broad knowledge of trends in international security; expertise on one of the following issues a major plus: US foreign and security policy, international defense affairs, geoeconomics;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Work experience in a think-tank setting / policy-focused environment;
  • Solid record of policy-oriented publications;
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills; good German a plus;
