Assistant Accountant AngloGold Ashanti

Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia's premier gold mines. This open pit and underground operation employs more than 600 people and produces approximately 350,000 oz of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive 8/6 fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.

We are now seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Business Support and Services Team at Sunrise Dam.

Accountable to the Mine Governance Accountant, the core purpose of this role is to provide mine costings, reporting and analysis.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

• Assist, prepare and check month-end mining contract claims
• Ensue mining costs are allocated correctly
• Evaluate and advise on variation claims
• Liaise with mining contractors to ensure reconciliation of production data
• Assist with preparation of end of month management accounts. Produce & distribute cost reports to facilitate financial accountability on site.
• Assist with the maintenance of the Sunrise Dam Gold Mines Fixed Assets Register and General Ledger
• Assist with preparation of periodic statutory returns
• Assist with the capital approval process and preparation of capital expenditure reports
• Prepare accounts receivable invoices for site debtors
• Prepare purchase requisitions and service entries

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting
• Accounting experience ideally within the mining sector
• A high degree of computer literacy
• Analytical processing skills
• MS Excel
• Previous experience in a FIFO role would be advantages but not essential
