MFX Solutions, Inc. is a company set up by microfinance funds and foundations to help the industry understand and manage currency and interest rate risk. It provides currency hedging, training, and analytical tools designed to help microfinance lenders safely manage balance sheet risk and gain access to new sources of funding. MFX’s technical assistance division provides training to MFIs on asset-liability management, borrowing strategy, and hedging using sophisticated decision support tools. MFX aims to increase lending to MFIs, especially in underserved markets in Sub-Saharan Africa. MFX currently operates globally, with headquarters in Washington, D.C.
About the Job:
MFX is looking for an East Africa Regional Trainer to facilitate the rollout of a recently-awarded multi-year IFC-funded program focused on enhancing the capacity of micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) lenders in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). S/he will report to the director of technical assistance and will be responsible for providing training on financial risk management, asset-liability planning, and hedging to senior MFI executives in a variety of delivery channels including seminars and 1 to 2 week consulting engagements. This position will be based in the East Africa region and will deliver services in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burundi, and DRC.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
•Develop new business through conference attendance, course facilitation, networking, and other methods;
•Deliver best practice group trainings as well as on-site, in-depth technical assistance engagements;
•Provide ongoing post-engagement technical assistance to MSME lenders;
•Actively promote suitable program clients to potential funders;
•Manage relationships with clients, funders, and other stakeholders;
•Ensure all targets and reporting requirements are met;
•Assist the MFX team in the delivery of new products and services.
Qualifications:
•CA/ACCA/CPA/CFA/Masters degree in business, finance, or accounting;
•At least 5 years of experience working in Africa-based financial services (banks, NBFIs, MFIs etc.) in the area of treasury, finance, accounting, financial risk management, or technical assistance;
•Written and spoken fluency in English necessary (French or Kiswahili also preferred);
•Ability to be based in East Africa region and travel approximately 50% of the time;
•Strong analytical skills;
•Detail oriented, efficient, and able to promptly meet deadlines.
