Post-Doctoral Research on Livelihoods in Sub-Saharan Africa

The Volkswagen Foundation invites junior and senior post-doctoral African researchers to apply for its program on "Livelihood Management, Reforms, and Processes of Structural Change."

The research should address how social actors can manage and protect natural resources and develop sustainable livelihood strategies under present social and environmental conditions in the African context. Applications are invited from both the natural and social sciences.

The work should be carried out in collaboration with a German research partner institution and/or German postdoctoral fellow. Fellowships are up to €120 thousand (less for junior post docs), plus additional support for the German partner.

Volkswagen provides application guidelines and access to an electronic application process. The application deadline for pre-proposals is 30 November 2012.
