Public and External Relations Director Slovak Atlantic Commission Bratislava, Slovakia

Overall responsibility

Coordinate the relations of the Slovak Atlantic Commission with the public, the media and key stakeholders from the private, public and non-governmental sector, on both the national and international level. Supporting the Commissions programs and projects in their external relations.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Create a communication strategy for the Commission and key projects, including identification of objectives, messages, audiences, tools and timescales and evaluation metrics;
  • Implement the strategy in the Commission, its programs and projects;
  • Evaluate and update the strategy;
  • Foster relationships with local and foreign media;
  • Expand the Commission’s social media presence and be responsible for updating social media pages;
  • Manage the voice and content of the Commission’s websites and email newsletters;
  • Prepare press releases and briefings;
  • Organise events for the media and other key stakeholders;
  • Prepare promotional material about the organisation and its programmes and projects;
  • Cooperate with contractors on projects.

  • Deputy Secretary General;
  • Programme Directors.

Required qualifications

University degree in relevant field.

Skills

  • Language skills:

Slovak – fluent
English – fluent
Additional languages welcome.

  • Computer skills: Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Driving licence: B (advantage).

Required experience

Experience in the field of public and external relations at least five years, preferably in an international organisation.

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, motivated, creative team player, with the ability to form define his own agenda and work independently;
  • Good knowledge of the Slovak, regional and international market, key stakeholders in the media, government and NGOs;
  • The ability to manage small teams of young professionals on various projects;
  • Good strategic thinking and the ability to carry out strategic projects independently;
  • Excellent Slovak and English writing skills are a necessity;
  • The ability to come up with new ideas, projects and improvements;
  • Multitasking skills: you will be responsible for the external communication of several projects at the same time;
  • Networking skills;
  • Existing professional contacts in the Slovak and regional media are an advantage;
  • Interest and working knowledge of international relations;
  • Flexibility to travel abroad for business trips and conferences.

The Slovak Atlantic Commission (SAC) is a Bratislava-based independent, non-partisan, non-governmental organisation leading the debate on national and international security, foreign policy and economic issues in Central Europe. Founded in 1993 the Commission has become one of the most active members of the international "Atlantic Treaty Association”. The aim of the Slovak Atlantic Commission is to raise the voice of Slovakia and Central Europe in the transatlantic security and foreign policy debate, enhance regional cooperation and support the constructive and active involvement of the Slovak Republic in international affairs.
