Senior Shutdown Planner AngloGold Ashanti


AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents.   AGA employs over 62,000 people globally.  In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine in which it has a 70% interest and is manager.  Independence Group NL holds the remaining 30%.  The Sunrise Dam and Tropicana operations are both situated in WA.
Tropicana represents the most significant Australian gold discovery of the last decade.  The new, large scale open pit gold mining operation will produce 3.45 million ounces over a 10 year mine life (approved project).  Construction began in 2011 and first gold is anticipated in the December quarter of 2013.
We are now seeking an experienced Senior Shutdown Planner to join our operations team for the Tropicana Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the fixed-plant plant operations by providing planning and coordination for major shuts of the processing fixed-plant. This role is initially Perth based and will move to FIFO 8/6 mid 2013.
The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Supporting the development and implementation of appropriate asset management strategies through effective maintenance planning and coordination of major plant shuts
  • Improving work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts and material, and equipment access during major shuts
  • As a key contact and liaison person for major shut planning between Maintenance, Operations and other supported departments ensuring Maintenance is provided as a timely, efficient and quality service.
  • Providing long term planning through systematic analysis of backlog relative to available resources for that work completed during shuts
  • Identification of opportunities to improve plant performance in terms of production capacity and maintenance costs
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Engineering degree or trade in mechanical or electrical disciplines with at least 3 years' experience as a planner or planner/supervisor in a metals processing environment
  • Familiar with the maintenance planning requirements of large crushing and milling processes and equipment, with desirable high pressure grinding rollers
  • Experience in remote site reliability maintenance planning challenges
  • Experience in using a computer based ERP system, particularly SAP and intermediate skills in MS Office
  • WA C Class Driver's license
