Financial Officer

Dorcas is a Christian relief and development organization active in Eastern Europe and Africa. In these regions, Dorcas works together with local partner organizations through the Dorcas field offices. Dorcas is committed to fulfill the command Jesus Christ gave to His followers to take care of the poor and oppressed (Mt.25.31-46), irrespective of their race, religion, gender or political conviction, by encouraging self-reliance through development, providing social care and assisting in emergency situations.
To properly administrate and financially monitor our field offices and the projects that are implemented by our partner organizations, the Finance department will be expanded with a:
Financial Officer
Full-time
To be stationed in Andijk, the Netherlands
The financial officer works under the direct leadership of the team leader Finance and will liason often with the Financial Director, the Operational Director and the Operational Team members.
The financial officer will be responsible for:
  • monitoring of the financial administrations of the Dorcas field offices;
  • financial monitoring of Dorcas projects that are overseen by the Dorcas field offices and executed by our partner organizations;
  • analysis of (financial) developments, anominalies and deviations;
  • assisting in preparing budgets, financial (annual reports) and internal audits in our field offices and partner organizations;
Job Requirements:
  • BSc or MA degree in financial management (SPD or at least MBA);
  • preferably experience in the NGO sector and/or;
  • experience with financial monitoring of multiple simultaneous projects in foreign countries;
  • fluent spoken and written command of English and Dutch;
  • excellent Excel skills;
  • proactive attitude, flexible personality, strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • the ability to work under pressure;
  • the ability to prioritize work load;
  • adherence to the mission and vision of Dorcas;
  • active membership of a local church;
  • ability to travel and to work in a cross-cultural environment.
