COMMITTEES COORDINATOR - INTERNATIONAL SECRETARIAT

Permanent contract
Start date: Early 2014

We are looking for a Coordinator to provide organizational and administrative support to Amnesty International governance committees, including the Preparatory Committee of the International Council Meeting (ICM), which is the highest decision-making body of Amnesty’s international movement and held every two years.

The role will also support the Global Management Team and assist with the general governance and international meeting work of the Organization Liaison Unit (OLU) within the Governance Programme of the International Secretariat.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following tasks:
  1. Organize and service committee meetings
  2. Support the organization of international meetings and events
  3. Work closely with the Head of OLU to coordinate the preparation of the ICM agenda and other related ICM processes and documentation
  4. Write minutes, prepare reports, proof documents for circulation in accordance with correct document version control procedures
  5. Process expense claims and reimbursements, and maintain accurate financial records
  6. Other tasks as requested to assist and support the work of the OLU team

We would expect the successful candidate to have the following skills and experience:
  1. Board level minuting and report writing ability
  2. Experience of servicing and administering of committees and decision-making bodies
  3. Experience of working with senior executives and volunteer leadership
  4. High level of logistical and meeting organizing skill (both face-to-face meetings for participants from multiple countries and remote meetings (conference calls, video conferences etc.)
  5. Good financial awareness and ability to manage a budget
  6. Highly organized with strong administrative, IT and record keeping skills including organizing travel, booking flights
  7. Ability to manage own workload and work as part of a team, and recruiting and coordinating teams and cope with the pressure of deadlines
  8. A high level of spoken and written English essential, French or Spanish desirable
