GSMA – The Role GSMA Connected Living Programme – Market Analyst Context The GSMA is looking for a Market Analyst to work with the Connected Living workstreams (mHealth, mAutomotive, mEducation and Smart Cities) to undertake analysis within the field of Connected Living, to identify emerging trends and statistics in device and service development and to report market growth. Furthermore, the role will be responsible to developing external forecasts into a holistic view of the revenue opportunity across key Connected Living segments. The role will involve working with workstream leaders and Programme Management to support ongoing programme activity, presentations and deliverables. It will also involve managing relationships with key information suppliers and consultants (both internal and external) to ensure that high quality output is produced. This is a hands-on role with and the successful candidate is required to be self-motivated and to achieve deliverables and objectives without day-to-day supervision. 

Context 
The GSMA Connected Living initiative is a market development programme designed to accelerate the usage of wireless connectivity by a wide range of devices across the education, healthcare, automotive and utilities sectors. In most cases, a wireless modem will be embedded into the device. The short-term goal is to trigger market expansion to achieve 500 million connected embedded mobile devices by 2013. Our work, supported by some of the world’s leading mobile operators, is focused on identifying and lowering the main barriers for each of the key sectors and bringing embedded mobile devices to market via appropriate, simple and streamlined processes. Some of the objectives are common across the sectors; for example, helping to bring costs down through economies of scale by introducing common design guidelines for new embedded modules and stimulating and participating in regulatory discussions. This project will be fast-moving in order to meet ambitious timescales, and will involve collaboration with a broad group of mobile network operators and specialist working groups within GSMA.  

Criteria 
Role Criteria The GSMA is looking for an experienced analyst to drive the development of its device and service deployment trackers, revenue forecasting and reporting/analysis tools. The ideal candidate will show experience in the understanding of Connected Living services. Experience in the wider mobile sector needed including an understanding of the M2M market. The role demands strong self-discipline and self-management and would suit a highly motivated professional. Multiple language ability and experience of working in multi-national, virtual teams would be an added bonus. The candidate will also require the following skills: • Graduate with good degree in either science, engineering or maths • Strong analytical and numeracy skills • Extremely proficient at Microsoft Excel and handling large, complex data-sets with a strong attention to detail • Proficient at Microsoft PowerPoint • Direct experience in data-centric projects across multiple countries and multiple markets.
