Description 
• Reporting directly to the Head of Middle East and North Africa (“MENA”), GSMA. Broadly, this person will assist the Head of MENA by engaging with relevant stakeholders and undertaking the co-ordination, analysis and reporting required to: o identify areas where member operators require regulatory support; o convey GSMA’s public policy and key messages within the region; and o assess the impact of its public policy activities to ensure that they sufficiently address the requirements of member operators; • Monitoring mobile industry developments & key regulatory decisions within the region and providing appropriate analysis on the same; • Prepare information bulletins, speech notes, reports and other ad hoc briefings as required; • Actively liaise and work with GSMA staff experts and/or program officers to ensure that appropriate assistance and resources are provided to members within the region, as and when required; • Assist to facilitate the implementation of GSMA’s broad stakeholder engagement plans and/or programs for the region; • Actively engaging with relevant member operators and stakeholders at the national and regional levels with the aim of ensuring that GSMA key public policy messages are conveyed and playing a positive role in shaping regulatory developments within the region; • Other ad-hoc activities to support the Government & Regulatory Affairs team, as required; • Assist in implementing programmes from the strategic and technical departments of the GSMA.

Criteria 
Criteria for selection • At least 5 years of professional experience, with knowledge of the mobile industry ; • Strong commercial, public policy, legal, media communications and/or government relations experience would be an asset; • Smart, collaborative, outcome focused. Strong analytical skills. Able to quickly grasp new concepts and ideas in the public policy sphere, and to contribute actively to developments within the region; • Ability to adapt to different cultures and to work with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams is important; • Excellent communicator in both English and Arabic. Able to express complex technical, commercial or regulatory issues in plain language, without losing the important points; • Good writing skills and able to write reports, and contribute to policy papers relevant to the region. Experience in producing deliverables such as briefings, speeches, online, printed collateral, web content would be an advantage; • Strong project management skills; ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and manage time effectively, sometimes working to tight deadlines; • A team player, highly motivated to engage with all relevant stakeholders and be able to efficiently work with a wide group of internal GSMA interests and resources, to ensure that the GSMA initiatives for the region are effectively implemented; • Fluency in English both oral and written and Arabic is essential.
