Network System Administrators
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering /Advance diploma in Engineering.
Years of experience: 2 - 4 years
Job Location – Uganda
Job Description: To install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet system or a segment of a network system. Maintain network hardware and software. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. May supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for all aspects of network administration including servers, desktop systems, communications hardware/software and office systems.
· responsible for providing support and troubleshooting any problems that arise, as well as making recommendations for upgrades when needed
· Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.
· Performing routine audits of systems and software
· Performing backups.
· Applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
· Adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting passwords, etc.
· Answering technical queries and dealing with users.
· Responsibility for security.
· Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system.
· Troubleshooting any reported problems.
· System performance tuning.
· Ensuring that the network infrastructure is up and running.
Key skills:
· Knowledge on Routers, switches and computer hardware and software, including applications & ability to support networked printers and photocopiers.
· Knowledge of Windows 2008 Server, desktop products & active directory.
· Should have good interpersonal, verbal and written communication, presentation skills.
· Good team player. Needs to have zeal and enthusiasm to quickly learn and contribute.
· Needs to be Sincere, honest and committed.
· Knowledge of setting up remote access for users.
· Demonstrated ability to administer a 250+ node network including firewalls.
· Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
