Youth Advocacy Network Fellowship
Fellowship Dates: September 1, 2012 - August 30, 2013
Application Deadline: June 15, 2012
Fellows will be tasked with the following responsibilities:
- Update and enhance current new media advocacy curriculum which includes lessons and exercises in leadership, advocacy, internet literacy, email, social networking, web-based research, basic website design, podcasting and video production
- Teach New Media Advocacy classes to young people a maximum of five afternoons a week and Saturdays (October - May)
- Maintain YAN’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter and YAN blog)
- Coordinate the YAN summer internship program for advanced students, including teaching a weekly advanced topics seminar for participants (June - August)
Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently
- Previous experience in the developing world or a demonstrated interest in development
- Previous experience working with young people
- Knowledge of Indesign, Windows Movie Maker, basic website design, podcasting and video production
- Comfortable with difficult living conditions, including hit-or-miss availability of electricity and running water
- Advanced Information Technology skills and/or French skills desired
