Established in December 1950, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect and assist refugees and other persons of concern. In more than six decades, UNHCR has helped tens of millions of people restart their lives.
UNHCR’s Division of External Relations (DER) is tasked, among others, with developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy to ensure global support for UNHCR’s operations from external partners (e.g. the general public, governments, NGOs, private sector, the media, academia and persons of concern).
DER is currently recruiting for the following position:
  • Chief of Section (Digital Engagement), P5, Geneva, Switzerland:  The Chief of Section (Digital Engagement) has an important role in leading and developing the Office's digital strategy. This entails identifying the key priorities and audiences for the DER digital engagement, designing and supporting engagement programmes through tactics, tools and platforms to communicate with and mobilise digital communities for advocacy, awareness-raising and fund-raising.
The incumbent will also lead the technology development for digital engagement, in close coordination with the Division of Information Systems and Telecoms (DIST), based on agreed strategic objectives (content, audience, type of engagement etc.).
In close collaboration with the Director DER, the Head of News and Media, the Head of Private Sector Fund Raising, the Chief of Strategic Communications, and the Chief of Events and Campaigns and other relevant stakeholders, the incumbent will be responsible for setting up priority programmes for digital engagement – drawn from DER’s strategic priorities - and will assist in defining and delivering the required content, data visualization, creative etc.
