Established in December 1950, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect and assist refugees and other persons of concern. In more than six decades, UNHCR has helped tens of millions of people restart their lives.
UNHCR’s Division of External Relations (DER) is tasked, among others, with developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy to ensure global support for UNHCR’s operations from external partners (e.g. the general public, governments, NGOs, private sector, the media, academia and persons of concern).
DER is currently recruiting for the following position:
  • Chief of Section (Strategic Communications), P5, Geneva, Switzerland:The Chief of Section (Strategic Communications) has an important role in leading and developing strategic messaging, public engagement, brand development and implementation for the organization, and needs to work across all sections of DER as well as with other Bureaux and Divisions of UNHCR. This includes working closely with the team involved in developing and implementing the digital strategy. One of the main responsibilities of the incumbent would be to position UNHCR as the leader of protecting, assisting and finding solutions for the world’s forcibly displaced and stateless persons.
