Hitachi Corporate Office, Europe, located in Brussels is looking to recruit an EU Affairs Manager, Energy & Social Infrastructure. The position will involve maintaining current and driving new EU lobbying and networking activities within the Energy & Social infrastructure area. The successful candidate will be a self motivator but will also be expected to work closely with the other EU Affairs Managers in the office, with relevant contact people based in Tokyo as well as people responsible for EU Affairs and Management within Hitachi’s Group Companies in Europe.

Key Tasks:
  • Monitoring EU legislative/policy developments in the field of energy & social infrastructure, impacting Hitachi businesses, as well as their correlation with other domains such as data protection, digital agenda, competition, trade, mobility and transport;
  • Contributing to the monthly, bi-monthly and ad-hoc reports on EU legislative and policy topics. Drafting and publishing reports targeting executive level of Hitachi companies or targeting Hitachi stakeholders;
  • Networking and contact building with EU officials in the energy & social infrastructure area;
  • Setting up ad-hoc meetings with EU officials when necessary;
  • Maintaining close contacts with and advising key Hitachi Group Companies in Europe on energy & social infrastructure issues; 
  • Maintaining contacts and undertaking lobbying activities within Trade Associations that Hitachi is a member of;
  • Establishing contacts with other relevant EU Stakeholders in Brussels and in Europe. 
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ relevant work experience in the EU Affairs realm (Good understanding of EU legislation on Energy, Water and Smart Cities…etc); 
  • Excellent and proven communication and networking skills;
  • Experience in working with Trade Associations;
  • Experience from one of the EU institutions would be considered a plus; 
  • An MA EU politics, environmental studies, economics or law;
  • Experience of working in an international environment, knowledge of Japanese working environment would be a bonus;
  • Fluency in French and English is essential, other languages including Japanese a bonus.
