AngloGold Ashanti Engineer - Plant Maintenance , Namibia

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To provide support to the Unit Manager: Engineering in the execution of an engineering function by the implementation and execution of effective maintenance practices and management of the engineering maintenance teams within the gold plant areas.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The role holder has the following accountabilities and authorities:

Ensure compliance to Engineering policies and procedures in line with legislation and regional/corporate standards and guidelines and to ensure compliance to the Navachab SHE policies and practices e.g. OSHAS 18001, ISO14001, Cyanide Code by:

  • Continuously analyzing the work environment and implementing corrective actions.
  • Modeling behavior that is consistent with the AngloGold Ashanti Safety Vision and Values.
  • Identification of safety hazards and risks and to implement/escalate effective mitigation of such.
  • Conducting gap analysis and audits.
  • Implementing new technology and practices.
  • Maintenance of processes to provide a safe workplace to all employees and external service providers undertaking work within your area of accountability.
  • Setting and implementing programs to achieve the required SHE goals.

To provide support to the Unit Manager: Engineering in the planning, coordinating, execution and effectiveness of the engineering function within the areas of responsibility by:

  • Setting and managing appropriate service standards and contracts for service providers.
  • Maintain an equipment maintenance program for plant assets and continuously focus on improving the equipment reliability.
  • Maintain and improve life cycle costing of Plant assets.
  • Developing of an annual budget for area of accountability.
  • Budget cost control and reduction of expenditure exercises.
  • Providing technical and maintenance leadership and management to the responsible maintenance teams.
  • Undertaking engineering analysis pertaining to plant maintenance functions and to undertake initiatives to optimise the performance of the maintenance function.
  • Provide technical specialist input into studies and project work.
  • Actively participating in the development of engineering standards, guidelines and procedures for plant maintenance in line with legislation and as prescribed by Corporate and the Continental Africa Regional Office.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of the engineering work management system, behaviours and practices for continuous improvement e.g. repetitive equipment failures, equipment performance and equipment maintenance programs to improve life cycle costing.

To provide support to the Unit Manager: Engineering in the overall and general management of the engineering function within the areas of responsibility by:

  • Providing management leadership to the plant maintenance workshop teams and contractors.
  • Maintaining effective working relations on a continuous basis with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and contractors.
  • The implementation and sustainability of Project ONE with specific reference to the Business Process Framework (BPF) and System for People (SP) to ensure the right person in the right role at the right time doing the right work in the right way within the Plant Maintenance Section.
  • Maintain competent person status (membership of relevant professional bodies).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • An appropriate undergraduate qualification in the engineering and built environment e.g. BSc (Eng), B Tech: Eng or ND: Eng in the disciplines of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years Plant Maintenance experience in a mining environment.
  • Professional registration will be an advantage.

REMUNERATION:

Salary will be in accordance with the AngloGold Ashanti Schedule of Salaries.
