Gmedia Center WORKSHOP ASSISTANT


Information and communication are vehicles of change, opportunities to understand the challenges, means to raise voices and tools to protect people in need. Media today represent the opportunity for that change and they are key players in promoting human rights, good governance and accountability and they contribute in building a democratic society. Gmedia Center is a Geneva based initiative whose overall objective is to empower media to further civil society goals on human rights and democracy. Gmedia Center will facilitate the necessary interaction between international actors and the media to enhance journalists’ capabilities in human rights reporting and maintain these connections through a global web community dedicated to furthering civil society goals.
The Workshop Assistant (Intern) is responsible for assisting in the daily activities related to preparation, organization, and hosting of the Human Rights Workshop and Committee Against Torture Workshop.
Note: this position is an unpaid internship.
Responsibilities • Process and document participant information • Contribute to the development and finalization of the workshop programme • Update workshop information to the web • Coordinate with OHCHR accreditation of journalists • Prepare welcome packages for the participants • Assist with workshop logistics • Contribute to post workshop reporting
Requirements • Previous experience in human rights is an advantage • Excellent interpersonal skills • Motivated in communicating with a culturally diverse group of people • An interest and understanding of journalism • Candidate must be self-motivated and have good English oral and written communication skills • Other language skills a plus
