IP Network Engineer : Southern Africa based from Johannesburg

Location: Southern Africa based from Johannesburg. 
A vacancy has arisen for an IP Network Engineer to play an important role in covering the various life cycle aspects of a network implementation, including planning, implementation and operations at a time of significant network expansion within the Southern Africa region.
With respect to planning, the job holder will provide ad hoc assistance to product and project management with respect to solution designs and will be proactive in the forecasting of network resources required.  Implementation responsibilities will include configuring equipment, physical installation and testing of equipment/solutions, documenting of solutions. Whilst operational responsibilities will include Network Support activities, providing 2nd level support to the NOC as well as owning and escalating complex problems to 3rd level (vendor/supplier support). The job holder will be expected to keep network diagrams, configurations and other related documents accurate and current
Applicants, qualified to at least Matric level must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant technical experience with a large corporate network. Knowledge of communication infrastructure (wireless, WIMAX, Microwave, VSAT, terrestrial fibre/copper services) is important as is knowledge of IP networking and CISCO solutions and products. The job would suit an individual who can work under pressure and can adapt and work well within a global and diverse team of skilled resources. There will be a need for some travel within the Region.
