Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) is a JSE-listed, majority black-owned and controlled mid-tier platinum group metals (PGMs) producer originating from the Royal Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine (BRPM) joint venture over the existing BRPM mining operations.

BRPM is a shallow mine that mines at depths of up to 500m. Access to the ore-body is via a twin decline system that enables easy access to the underground environment.

As Chief Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing Styldrift Mine with specialist survey and mine evaluation services and expertise.

This role will see you employing specialist survey services and expertise at the Mine where you compile ore accounting reconciliation for the lease area and basic mining equations for Life of Lease planning. In this 2.12.1 appointment in terms of the MHSA, the work focus timeframe is typically 1 to 3 years, but some plans may be longer. A key focus will be achievement of optimum Group and SAMREC/PLATO survey and evaluation standards for the effectiveness of the mining resource development team.

To succeed, you will need a 4-year post-Matric qualification plus a Mine Surveyor’s Certificate of Competency, MS (Plato), IMSSA, and a minimum of 8 years’ mining experience. A National Diploma in Survey, National Higher Diploma/Master’s in Science or B degree in Engineering would be advantageous. Computer literacy, a Certificate of Fitness plus the ability to manage a large team of surveyors are important to the role, while shaft sinking survey experience would be beneficial.
