Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Compliance Coordinator located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia through December 31, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Facilitate and coordinate SOX deployment and change management processes within Malaysia based on Regional guidance from RU SOX Representative. 
  • Champion standardization of processes and controls across Business Units (BU’s) to streamline the number of controls to be tested for the country and area. 
  • Train BU’s on new requirements for SOX testing, updating flow-charts and walk-through documents, creation of assessment controls for RCTS and provide hands-on advice to users. 
  • Review new business processes/transactions to meet SOX requirements. Monitor BU’s completion status, drive them to meet deadlines and provide Regional compliance with updates and quantifications on deficiencies and follow-up on action items until completion. 
  • Maintain key documentation for SOX in-country. 
  • Act as the engagement partner for the BU’s during Internal Audit assignments (for SOX and Compliance).
  • Serve as Compliance Coordinator to ensure that BU’s in Malaysia comply with CVX requirements. This involves rolling out existing and new Regional compliance program as cascaded and drafting training programs and executing them. 
  • Provide advice and guidance to BU’s on risk management areas concerning proposed business transactions. 
  • Assist BU’s to obtain regional and legal/corporate approvals for affected transactions (mainly FCPA & Conflict of Interest). 
  • Support Finance Manager and Regional Compliance Coordinator to follow-up on Compliance issues with Business Unit Coordinators to ensure alignment and resolution of such issues.
  • Assist and advise Finance Manager (Malaysia) on improving internal control procedures and policies within Malaysia. 
  • Organize audit committee meetings including raising agenda of compliance discussion topics, tracks actions until closure and updating the audit committee on latest policies and procedures.
  • Implement/updates new compliance policies within Malaysia (e.g. policy 585 on travel) 
  • Compile Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 (FCPA) reports to Regional compliance. 
  • Act as Company Secretary for Chevron Malaysia’s subsidiaries (ensure all regulatory requirements are adhered)
  • Assist Finance manager with Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank) loan applications including liaison with corporate treasury on BNM queries

    Qualifications:
  • Understands current legal & compliance requirements, internal control, auditing and accounting standard and system (SAP knowledge).
  • Able to evaluate business processes and their risks and controls. 
  • Able to formulate recommendations that reflect a balance between risk and cost of controls.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluates alternatives assess risk and make timely decisions.
  • Actively interacts and participates in discussions with all functional senior management to ensure implementation and compliance to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) processes and procedures.
  • Communicates in a clear, concise, understandable manner particularly in rolling out new instructions and procedures on SOX and internal control. 
  • Stays accessible, approachable and always available to provide guidance in order to achieve consistent interpretation and compliance to existing internal control and procedures. 
  • Strong ability to assess, review and provide advocacy and advice on in-country compliance program.

    Relocation Options:
    Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.

    International Considerations:
    Selected candidate will work in Malaysia under the local payroll system and benefits.
