Legal specialist in contract law and alternative dispute resolution Kosovo

Chemonics seeks a legal specialist in contract law and alternative dispute resolution for an anticipated USAID-funded Contract Law Enforcement (CLE) project based in Pristina, Kosovo. CLE seeks to assist Kosovo institutions to improve the enforcement of civil judgments in an effective, efficient, and accountable manner; establish and functionalize the anticipated new enforcement system in Kosovo; assist Kosovo to develop and harmonize its contract and commercial law framework and systems; and improve the contract enforcement systems and the functioning of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Responsibilities include: 
  • Serve as the leader of the project’s component focusing on development of the contract and commercial law framework and systems and improvement of the functioning of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field required; J.D. or L.L.M. preferred
  • Minimum 10 years experience working in the areas of contract law, alternative dispute resolution, and/or enforcement of judgments
  • Experience interacting with host-government agencies and the private sector
  • Understanding of business environment enabling practices, commercial law, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in Kosovo or other countries
  • Experience working on a USAID or similar donor-funded projects in judicial and legal reform preferred
  • Experience working in the Central and Eastern European region and/or other countries that have successfully completed the reforms in the relevant sectors for the CLE program preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • English fluency required
