Video Editing Intern - New York, NY


The Foreign Policy Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring the American public to learn more about the world. Founded in 1918, the Foreign Policy Association serves as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding of, and providing informed opinions on global issues. Through its balanced, nonpartisan programs and publications, the FPA encourages citizens to participate in the foreign policy process.
The Communications Department works to fulfill FPA's educational mission through online and broadcast media and is responsible for the organization's online properties, digital content, PBS television productions, and media relations. 
The Communications Department also works to promote FPA's roster of products and services, which include events, publications, PBS Television productions, global job board, international career boot camps, and online properties. 
The responsibilities of the intern will include:
  • Attending FPA Events
  • Editing FPA event footage
  • Uploading and managing FPA's video library
  • Logging b-roll footage
  • Organizing a large NAS
  • Providing general administrative support
  • Tracking and analytics of online video metrics
  • Assist with research and editing related to Great Decisions on PBS
  • Various additional video editing projects

Qualifications



  • High familiarity with Final Cut Pro
  • Experience with Premiere Pro
  • Exceptional editing skills
  • Familiarity with compression codecs
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to multitask and work well collectively 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of HTML
  • Strong interest in U.S. foreign policy
  • Experience with HD acquisition and workflow
Outcomes
· Interns will gain hands-on experience in non-profit communications, including an insider's view of professional content administration and video editing
· Interns will increase their professional editing skills and gain knowledge of video based promotion techniques 
This is a six month internship in FPA's New York City headquarters; a modest monthly stipend is available.
