PHD POSITION PERSONAL INFORMATION SECURITY ASSISTANT

The Information Systems (IS) group within the faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) at the University of Twente has a vacancy for a PhD student. More information about the IS group can be found on the website (http:is.cs.utwente.nl/)

Functieomschrijving
In the PISA project (Personal Information Security Assistant) we will focus on the hard problem of end user risk management, and design a tool that helps end users to manage and reduce their IT risks. For this we will take existing risk management methodologies such as ISO 27005 as a starting point, and develop them into an easy to use tool, using state of the arts methods and techniques of security research.

The project members cooperate with the human-media group to ensure usability of the user interface. The objective is to validate the tool design iteratively in a series of increasingly large scale experiments. Internally, the project is supported by a software engineer, who will develop a major part of the software, together with the PhD student.

The project has a strong industrial backing, consisting of IT service providers KPN and XS4ALL as well as a user committee of three other organizations (CSC, IT United and Hyves) willing to support the tool's development and testing. Project members will collaborate closely with these organizations and gain expertise in enterprise risk and security management.
