Salary range: From £24,245 net, per annum (take home pay)

Background
Oxfam International is a confederation of non-governmental organizations dedicated to fighting poverty and related injustice around the world. The role
Your challenge will be to develop and deliver a long-term strategic plan to achieve significant impact on campaigns and policy advocacy on conflict and gender equality in Africa. Under tight deadlines and using clear judgement, you will lead in the analysis of complex problems and contexts and use your creativity and insight to identify opportunities for change. You will shape organizational objectives, interpret and act on complex information from varied sources and provide specialist communication advice across the organization. You will negotiate, network and influence with partners, activists and allies and you will represent the campaign externally. You will also play a strong role in global Rights in Crisis Campaign Management Team and the Pan Africa programme team.
The person
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable experience of working with African CSOs and coalitions on campaigning and/or advocacy especially those working on women's rights. You will have an excellent understanding of gender, conflict and humanitarian issues in Africa and a strong background in campaigns and advocacy. You will have proven commitment towards promotion of gender equality and diversity within campaign work coupled with a strong ability to manage a media and campaigns function. You will be a strategic thinker, with outstanding management skills and a track record of delivering complex campaigning projects while demonstrating innovative and creative approach to problem solving. You will have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and be fluent in English. The ability to speak in Swahili, Arabic and French is highly desirable coupled with a further degree in political science, gender studies, international relations or other relevant discipline.
