HELIOS Project Manager

Maternity Cover (November 2012 - February 2014)

Oxford

Salary: £36,110 - £45,350 per annum

Closing Date: 21 September 2012

Developed specifically for humanitarian logistics, the HELIOS system maximises the impact of relief and development efforts. Now you'll make sure we continue to implement the system successfully around the world. It's a huge task. But it's also a unique opportunity to make a massive difference as you improve the way we work in the field.

About the role
Capitalising on a programme life budget of £6.2 million, you'll plan and manage the international delivery of HELIOS and related application and technical support services. It's work that will include everything from project planning and estimating, to deployment and ensuring ongoing support. And it will see you work closely with senior managers, different departments and country teams to make sure every aspect of the system is as efficient and effective as possible. You'll continue to apply an appropriate project management framework (e.g. PRINCE2), drive the project plan and oversee progress. And through your team in Oxford, as well as teams in other counties, you'll deliver on time, within budget and to impressive quality standards.

About you
We'll expect you to manage all aspects of the project, influence senior managers and make decisions based on a complex range of information. So you'll obviously need strong project and stakeholder management experience and preferably a good understanding of the supply chain process - possibly, but not necessarily, gained within an NGO. You'll be an experienced people manager, able to lead teams with technical specialism and teams delivering business process changes. As you'll often be managing at a distance, you should also be skilled at putting your message across clearly and inspiring others to achieve results.

About Oxfam
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There's enough wealth in this world to go around. It's not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It's unjustifiable. It's not their problem. It's ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. More than 8,000 people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we're looking for yours.
