US Funding Officer Friends International United States

Friends-International is a social enterprise that works with marginalized urban children and youth, their families and communities, to help them become independent and productive citizens of their country.

Friends-International (FI) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of US (United States) Funding Officer, to work closely FI Grants, Programs and Finance team.

Position overview
This position is responsible for developing Friends-International’s US fundraising strategy: segmenting US-based donor landscape, identifying potential donors, building relations with target donors and securing donor funding. 

US FUNDING OFFICER will:
• Monitor US donor trends and funding opportunities through regular research, monitoring of information on relevant websites/other sources, and networking.
• Identify potential funding sources for FI programs, including trusts, foundations, corporate and individual donors who have a thematic and geographical overlap with FI priorities.
• Define fundraising strategy and design an engagement plan for target donors
• Develop and cultivate relationships with target donors, tailoring the approach and communication style according to the donor. 
• Maintain relationships with donors and keep them informed and up-to-date about the work of FI. 
• Liaise with Grants team to match specific FI programs and funding needs to donor interests and priorities and to develop, review and submit high quality project applications.
• Develop US donor specific communication as required.

Experiences and qualifications:
• Degree in relevant discipline (e.g. communication or marketing)
• Knowledge of US funding environment and donors (primarily trusts and foundations, corporate and individual donors), different types of funding sources and how to access them effectively; 
• Understanding of international development and child protection;
• Knowledge about social enterprise.
• Proven multiyear success in securing funds from US donors and working with US donors for the non-profit sector; 
• Experience in researching, identifying and building relations with potential donors; 
• Experience in proposal writing for NGOs with strong writing and analytical skills
• Experience of working in an international setting/SE Asia an advantage. 
• Computer and office technology: MS Office, social media. 
• Fluent in English. 
• Capacity in identifying and creating specific and creative fundraising strategies adequate with the FI spirit and the interest of US donors;
• Strong interpersonal and networking skills to develop and build relationships with a wide range of audiences and potential donors; 
• Strong organizational skills, good time management and ability to work to tight deadlines; 
• Highly motivated, enthusiastic and with initiative to work independently from long-distance with little direct supervision.
• Ability to represent FI’s work externally with passion, conviction and humility; committed, personable and flexible work attitude able to fit well into the FI team;

Location: Based in the US, working from home, no formal FI office setup with initial travel to Head Office during induction, potential travel within US for networking and donor liaison.
Duration: Full-time work.

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experiences.
