The Effective Development Group is GRM International’s specialist performance assessment division. EDG provides a suite of services encompassing a range of disciplines including monitoring and evaluation (M&E), impact assessment, design, planning and knowledge management.
EDG has exciting plans to expand its portfolio with major bilateral clients in Europe and the UK as well as Australia and the USA, in the field of performance assessment, in particular in the disciplines of program evaluation, M&E systems development, impact assessment and evaluation research. To support this expansion, we are looking to appoint aSenior Economist who will support the GRM and in particular the EDG team on leading and undertaking research studies.
Underpinning this growth will be the focus on value for money analysis and economic studies that leads to and develops Development Effectiveness on GRM/Futures projects. The Senior Economist will be responsible to:
  • Undertake complex economic studies for major evaluations;
  • Undertake economic modelling;
  • Provide thought leadership on Value for Money across the GRM Futures Group;
  • Undertake cost benefit studies as needed;
  • Write technical proposals;
  • Bid manage selected EDG Tenders;
  • Write and publish papers;
  • Develop policy documents.
 To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics;
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in an Economist position;
  • Experience in working with large donors like DFID, USAID, AusAID;
  • Ability to conduct economic and research studies for evaluations;
  • Understanding and experience in Value for Money analysis (VFM) and economic modeling;  
  • Experience in producing research outputs, publications and reports;   
  • Excellent research, analytical and writing skills;  
  • Understanding of international development issues.
