The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a proactive and responsible Junior Accounts Assistant with excellent organizational skills to assist finance department by providing financial and administrative services.  The selected candidate must be able to enter information accurately and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweetpotato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. CIP works with partners to contribute high quality science, technology, and capacity strengthening for sustainable science-based solutions. CIP is headquartered in Lima, Peru, with staff and activities in over 30 locations across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. CIP is a member of the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research, a network of 15 research centers mostly located in the developing world and supported by more than 50 donor members.
The Position: This position will be based in Lima, Perú and report directly to the Accounts Payable Assistant. The Junior Accounts Assistant is responsible for providing financial and administrative support in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations.
Duties and Accountabilities:
Perform the day to day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure that
CIP finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.
  • Receive and verify invoices and payment requisitions
  • Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
  • Be responsible for the record of invoices for payment to local suppliers
  • Be responsible for the Liquidation of advances to suppliers
  • Analysis of accounts
Provide administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient office operations
  • Manage and control Travel advance and liquidation
  • Verify and register Air Tickets and reconciliation
  • Verify and register Credit Card Payments
  • Be responsible for the records annual DAOT Invoices Report
Perform other related duties as required
Selection Criteria:
  • Recently graduated or last period student in Accounting or related discipline
  • At least 1 year of work experience
  • Knowledge of accounts payable operations and maintaining general ledgers
  • Knowledge of  IGV Tax calculation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team building skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communications skills; maturity and ability to interact responsively and tactfully with staff at all levels, with demonstrated good judgment and discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Fluent in Spanish and Intermediate Level in English
  • Willingness to learn CIP’s policies, administrative processes and procedures.
