Senior Advocacy and Policy Officer ICT - The International Campaign for Tibet


The Brussels office of the International Campaign for Tibet is seeking a highly motivated Senior Advocacy and Policy Officer to support and assist the work and activities of the EU Policy Director responsible for developing and implementing political strategies on Tibet towards the EU institutions and EU Member States. The International Campaign for Tibet is an International NGOs promoting human rights and freedoms for the people of Tibet.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience in political/international affairs, human rights and/or development cooperation;
  • Graduate degree in Political Sciences, International Relations, International Law and Human Rights, International Development or other related discipline;
  • Ability to work independently with strong coordination and organizational skills;
  • Strong communication, writing and interpersonal skills;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and French;
  • Knowledge of other European languages and/or Chinese an advantage;
  • Research and analytical skills, sound judgment and strategic thinking;
  • Familiarity with EU institutions is an important asset;
  • Willing to work in a small team;
  • Affinity towards the Tibetan issue would be an advantage.
Responsibilities and tasks
  • Assist the EU Policy Director in lobbying EU institutions, EU Member States, the United Nations and other Human Rights NGOs;
  • Organize press conferences, public events and advocacy meetings; devise and implement advocacy activities;
  • Attend sessions of the United Nations Human Rights Council when pertinent; coordinate with other colleagues on advocacy and lobbying actions targeting the United Nations;
  • Write and edit the International Campaign for Tibet’s monthly publication “Tibet Brief”;
  • Map relevant EU and national policies, legislation and events related to China and Tibet (human rights, foreign affairs, development, etc.);
  • Management and update of the database of contacts.
