Assistant in the field of Industrial Property OHIM


Duties
The job will consist in carrying out tasks within the context of procedures related to Trade Mark Examination, Oppositions, Cancellations, Designs, Recordals and Appeals or within other support areas of the core business of the Office, in particular:
- clerical tasks such as keying-in, verification and updating of IP files using computer programmes, including dispatch and allocation of electronic documents;
- examination of IP files for compliance with, e.g., formalities (such as admissibility), classification of goods and services, absolute grounds, costs, examination of requests from applicants or owners of trademarks; and taking decisions thereupon;
- administrative management of IP files and keeping check of the expiry of time limits, verification of payment of fees and preparation of files for further processing;
- drafting and sending correspondence and simple decisions relating to IP files and/or establishing examination reports;
- proofreading and linguistic revision of templates, correspondence and decisions;
- performance of researches on databases and the internet;
- provision of information by telephone, e-mail, fax, post and in person in particular on IP files and procedures to users, owners, representatives and other stakeholders.
Duties applicable to all staff:
  •  Actively work towards the achievement of the goals of the OHIM in accordance with the Strategic Plan
  • Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Line Manager
Eligibility Criteria
To be admissible for this selection, you must fulfill all the following conditions by the deadline for submission of applications:
General conditions
  •  Be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union or of Croatia (in view of an enlargement of the EU)
  •  Enjoy full rights as a citizen;
  •  Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws on military service;
  •  Meet the character requirements as to suitability for the performance of the duties involved;
  •  Be physically fit to perform the duties;
  •  Be able to provide an extract from judicial records or certificate of good conduct.
Education
  •  have a level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma,
OR
  •  have a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years.
Professional experience
  •  Have, after the award of the diploma and in addition to the professional experience giving access to the function group (see “Education” above), a minimum of 3 years of full-time relevant professional experience in tasks relevant to the duties indicated under “1.- Duties”2
Language skills
  •  a thorough knowledge of Polish (minimum level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  •  a good knowledge of German or English (minimum level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
