Department

Audio & Music Interactive is a department within BBC Radio, and is responsible for the digital development of A&M content and brands on a range of platforms. We pioneer and deliver audience-facing services online, on Red Button, DTV, DAB and in social media spaces.  These Content Producer roles are part of a team that creates and curates multiplatform and interactive content across the spectrum of 5 live’s brands. 5 live Interactive is at the heart of the station, and as such the Content Producers will be also regularly asked to contribute to adhoc pan-network tasks and projects. All interactive production roles may be asked to work across different networks other than the one specified in order to deliver the overall strategic and editorial aims of BBC Audio & Music Interactive.

Role

We are looking for two content producers - 1 x Continuing & 1 x 12-month attachment/fixed term contract. Please indicate which role you wish to apply for on your application form in the space provided.

The purpose of this role is to deliver content for the relevant content area on a daily basis, and to contribute to the development of new output and contribute to pan-network projects. You will have day-to-day accountability for the continuous content production for the relevant content area’s existing output. You will also deliver new projects and maintain relationships with internal and external content sources on a daily basis. You'll instruct a team on the delivery of content for the relevant content area and contribute ideas for the development of our online services. You will also consider multi-platform views of all content, including mobile and IPTV.

Please note: You will be required to work one weekend in every three.

Requirements

You will need to have a demonstrable passion and knowledge for the output of 5 live and 5 live sports extra, with well developed journalistic skills and a good understanding for radio production, including audio-editing. You will also need substantial web production experience in a working environment, with sound editorial judgement and writing skills. You'll have an interest and awareness of how digital technologies are changing media, broadcasting and audience trends, both inside and outside the BBC, and you’ll also have some experience of digital video production and using social media. You will also need some experience of project management for simple projects both inside and outside of the online environment.
