Position Description:

The water and Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) is an independent, world class regulatory authority responsible for licensing, tariff regulatory and quality of service regulatory of the electricity, water , petroleum and natural gas sectors. EWURA has the following vacancies for which suitably qualified Tanzanian citizens are invited to apply
Principal Environmental Safety Officer will be responsible for enforcing and monitor environmental protection and safety from petroleum products, facilities and premises.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To design and maintain appropriate management systems that ensure petroleum products are stored, distributed and consumed according to best operating practices in safety, health and environment.
To ensure that appropriate measures are put in place for safety and protection of environment from petroleum products.
To inspect petroleum products facilities and premises and enforce environmental regulations as per the Petroleum Act.
To prepare and maintain environmental safety statistics.
To provide support and advice on matters which are related to safety of petroleum facilities and environment protection.
To maintain accreditation to external standards.
Carry out any additional duties as may be assigned from time to time by the superiors.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:
Possession of University Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical or Processing) or Health and Safety from a recognized University.
Possession of Post Graduate qualifications in Environmental Science, Public Health or related field will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Competence in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) application.
Possession of at least five (5) years work experience in environmental, health and safety industry or relevant fields.
Possession of relevant work experience in petroleum industry will be an added advantage
