BBC Learning, established in 1924, is at the heart of the BBC’s overall aim to inform, educate and entertain. It’s our mission to inspire a life full of learning for all our audiences. As a department we play a central part in meeting the BBC's purpose of promoting education and learning. We co-commission a substantial portfolio of programmes and produce a range of learning resources delivered online, on-air and through face-to-face activities that connect, create and magnify powerful opportunities across the entire BBC to inspire all audiences. Recent successful collaborations have been with Stargazing Live, Blue Peter’s Olympic Torch Relay, CBeebies Rhyme Rocket, R1’s Hackney Academy, CBeebies Mr Bloom and The One Show. The department is also home to a comprehensive specialist learning offering that includes key brands such as Bitesize, Skillswise, and Class Clips.
Role
The Knowledge & Learning (K&L) product will be the biggest product launch for the whole of the BBC this year and, as a result, BBC Learning is expanding the Internal Communications team to include a Communications Coordinator for the K&L product. This role will help ensure the delivery of high quality internal communications relating to the K&L product across BBC Learning, North, Vision and the BBC as a whole and effectively manage internal communications projects and programmes relating to this product.
This K&L product aims to provide a single, unified place for all of the BBC’s factual and educational content, bringing together our Online Informal Learning output, currently hosted in a diverse portfolio of standalone websites, and our Formal Learning content, hosted within our Bitesize and Schools websites. The ultimate aim of this product is to unlock the learning potential of all BBC content.
This role will work alongside the Internal Communications Coordinator for BBC Learning and will report to the Senior Advisor, Policy, Public Affairs and Comms.The Internal Communications Coordinator K&L forms an integral part of the BBC Learning Operations team dedicated to supporting the delivery of excellent learning content.
Requirements
The Internal Communications Coordinator is expected to be creative, collaborative and in touch with audience needs and expectations. You will assist in the planning, production, activation and maintenance of all Learning’s internal communications to enable the department to deliver the strategy and objectives.
To be successful in this role it's important that you have a proven track record of working effectively in a communications environment. You will need to have excellent communications skills - both written and verbal - and be able to devise and deliver high quality internal communications, over under pressure. You will be proactive and have high levels of energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to work both under your own initiative and as collaboratively, as part of a team.
