Studentship InformationWe are offering a 3-year PhD studentship (full time or part time) to be based in the Centre for Health Services Studies (CHSS) in the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research (SPSSR) at the University of Kent. Applications are being invited to undertake health services research and evaluation (no teaching commitments). The studentship is a wonderful opportunity for an individual looking to further their knowledge and career in health service research working alongside experienced academics at this renowned international centre.
Centre for Health Services Studies (CHSS)Led by Professor Stephen Peckham, CHSS is a centre of excellence for health service research and research training. The Centre has a wide range of experience and undertakes commissioned research as well as a portfolio of competitively funded studies. It is the lead institution for the NIHR Research Design Service South East (RDS). CHSS has excellent links with local healthcare organisations and also with the School of Pharmacy based on the University’s Medway Campus. Part of the Department of Health funded Policy Research Unit in Commissioning and the Healthcare System (www.prucomm.ac.uk), CHSS works in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the University of Manchester.
This studentship includes home/EU tuition fees plus an annual maintenance stipend (currently £13,590 per annum for 2013/2014). In addition there is an annual Research Training Support allowance of £750 to cover conference attendance, training courses, equipment and books.
EligibilityApplicants will need to have completed a postgraduate course at Master’s level equivalent to merit or distinction with a substantive research training component (such as an ESRC recognised training course).
