MARKETING ASSISTANT


BDO is an international network of public accounting firms, the BDO Member Firms, which perform professional services under the name of BDO. The global network provides advisory services in 138 countries, with 54,933 people working out of 1,204 offices worldwide. The combined fee income of all the BDO Member Firms was $6.1 billion in 2012.
Service provision within the international BDO network is coordinated by Brussels Worldwide Services (BWS) BVBA, a limited liability company incorporated in Belgium with its statutory seat in Brussels.
To reinforce our global marketing team, BWS is seeking a Marketing Assistant, to work out of the International Executive Office (IEO) based in Brussels.
Job overview
The primary role of the junior Marketing Assistant is to offer administrative, communications and design support to the Global Brand & Marketing Director and Brand & Marketing Manager across the range of marcomms, online and business development initiatives being run from the IEO.
The role requires IT skills, including some knowledge of social media (LinkedIn, Twitter), web site management and online applications in general (the preferred platform in BDO is SharePoint). Internal comms experience, design capabilities and knowledge of InDesign are preferred.  
Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and Outlook is essential, together with proven fluency in English, both written and verbal. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is not afraid of tight deadlines, is prepared to take the initiative, work autonomously when necessary and be flexible.
A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role is required.
The position reports directly to the Global Brand & Marketing Director and will include working alongside the IT and other teams in the International Executive Office in Brussels.
Key responsibilities
Internal communications:
  • Responsible for the creation of newsletters and other network communications materials, both online and in print, and designing and drafting content when relevant
  • Editing and posting of ad hoc news items for the global intranet
External communications:
  • Assisting with the creation and dissemination of press releases and liaison with PR agency as appropriate. Includes keeping media list updated
Online / digital:
  • Active overview of content and functionality of global intranet, connect; input into international external facing web site
  • Member of the digital committee responsible for social media strategy & visual identity guidance for online applications
  • Responsible for functionality and updates to BDO Brand Centre
Global sector programme
  • Facilitation and coordination of common marketing collateral for the network’s international sector groups, including online representation on both internet and intranet
Visual Identity / branding:
  • Ensuring correct implementation of the visual identity tools and guidelines across the network, as well as compliance; includes new guidance for online applications
Design:
  • Ad hoc design of advertisements and other promotional materials, and occasionally of publications, when required by other departments
Conferences / events:
  • Ad hoc design of conference and promotional materials in connection with international conferences and other events
