The Role
This post is fixed term until the end of March 2014 and full time.
The Clerical Assistant is responsible for assisting with the management of student finance accounts for the Medway Campus including collection of tuition fees, exam re-sit fees, library fines, late and other charges and chasing of debts. Assistance to line managers with budget and actuals adjustment/processing, assisting with financial support for Schools and Centres as designated.
The Person
The successful applicant will be educated to GCSE level including English and Maths (or equivalent), with experience of working in an office environment. You will be able to display a good level of numeracy with a strong attention to detail, and to be able to write reports and other documents in a clear and concise manner.

The Department
The Finance Department aims to provide, in a cost efficient, professional and timely manner, services that allow the University to meet its statutory financial obligations and internal financial management objectives.
Its main focus is to provide the University as a whole (represented by its Governing Body, Council) and individuals holding budget responsibility with financial services and advice. This includes the payment of bills and salaries and collection of monies owed to the University. The Department is also required to ensure that the University operates its affairs within the various external financial and tax regulations and ensure that the University's financial records satisfy external audit.
