The Synergy Organization has been retained by a highly respected and internationally recognized Hospital to conduct the nationwide search for a Director of Biomedical Engineering. Situated in vibrant Northwestern Washington D.C., this not-for-profit, acute-care teaching and research hospital is known as a leader in caring for people and in the advancement of health.

The Director of Biomedical Engineering will direct and guide all operations of the Biomedical Engineering Department, and be responsible for hospital-wide clinical capital equipment planning, budgeting, and acquisition. Additional responsibilities for the Director of Biomedical Engineering include: 1) The planning, evaluation, analysis, review and approval of purchases and technical design proposals related to clinical equipment acquisitions, repairs and maintenance; 2) The provision of guidance and consultation to senior administration and medical staff regarding technology assessment, utilization, and acquisition; and, 3) Ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines, standards and requirements, applicable laws and regulations along with the philosophy, policies, procedures and standards as established by the hospital.
The successful candidate will: bring a passion for and expert knowledge of Biomedical Engineering; have outstanding communication skills; be a dynamic leader; and, serve as an expert resource for the hospital. Requirements include: five to ten years progressive experience in Biomedical Engineering in a large academic medical center; a Bachelors degree plus two years of formal job-related course work (Masters Degree preferred); thorough knowledge of accreditation requirements of The Joint Commission; and, strong management skills.
