Department

BBC World News is the BBC's commercially funded international 24-hour news and information channel.  We are owned and operated by BBC World News Ltd, a member of the BBC's commercial group of companies.  We attract more than 300 million homes in more than 200 countries and territories.  We estimate we're seen by just over 70 million viewers each week - the highest figure for any single BBC service.  Our values are the same as any of the BBC's public service networks - but our funding comes from commercial sources, either through advertising, sponsorship or distribution.

Role

As Editor, you'll lead across editorial, managerial, production and commissioning on BBC World News and to have a role in the development of the services we provide.  You'll also contribute to the wider development of the BBC Multi Media Newsroom.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have relevant and recent experience of outputting continuous news bulletins and programmes at a senior level.  You'll be a strong motivator with a track record of creative leadership skills as well as experience of managing budgets and driving efficiency and managing investment effectively.  You will also have a strong awareness of global issues and a good understanding of the needs of the BBC World News Audience and financial confidence to manage the channel's resources and also interact effectively with Global News Ltd and internal partners.
