Project/Proposal Summary:
MSI is working with USTDA to conduct evaluations of their grant programs. The overall objective of the evaluations is to assess the impact of grants in terms of increasing US exports and jobs. The USTDA grant programs cover five regions of the world and require interaction with former grantee and beneficiaries both in the US and abroad. Evaluations will consist primarily of desk research and all work will be conducted in the Washington, D.C. area.
Position Summary:
The Project Associate will conduct desk research and original research to follow-up on the outcome and impact of USTDA grants. They will be responsible for tracking grant beneficiaries and verifying any US exports and/or jobs produced by the grant program. The Project Associate will be part of a team of researchers overseen by an evaluation team leader that will provide daily guidance and oversight of work, and will be based in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities:
• Conduct background research on trade sector related to grant.
• Develop contact lists of grant beneficiaries and stakeholders that con provide information on the impact of the grant.
• Conduct Internet-based surveys with former grantees and beneficiaries.
• Conduct phone interviews with former grantees and beneficiaries.
• Provide narrative write-up on findings in succinct narrative.
• Provide data entry into evaluation database.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; M.A. preferred in international economic development and US trade related topic.
• Two years previous experience working in trade and/or international economic growth.
• Previous experience conducting desk research and tracking leads to obtain salient and credible information.
• Good inter-personal skills and ability to conduct effective phone interviews.
• Excellent English-writing abilities.
• Fluency in Spanish and English.
• Strong attention to detail.
