Senior Information Systems Assistant , Leidschendam


Depending on professional background, experience and family situation, a competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term appointment of one year duration limited to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). This appointment and any subsequent extension(s) are subject to terms of the Tribunal’s mandate and/or the availability of funds. The Special Tribunal for Lebanon is an international inter-governmental organization with its own independent legal identity and not a UN organization. However, STL follows the UN common system for benefits and entitlements to its staff members. UN staff members may also serve on loan from their parent department/office, if selected.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Information Systems Assistant will provide application support to all the users of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and will be responsible for Software asset management. The incumbent works within the Information Management Technology and Security Section (IMTSS) and reports to the Head, Information Systems Team. S/He will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions: Software asset management for all applications inclusive of the Microsoft Enterprise Licence Agreement; Assists in the analysis, design and development of software applications; Provides technical support and training on relevant software applications in the assigned area; Prepare test-scripts, coordinate the testing process with stake-holders; Conduct testing of new software applications and works with the other parties within and beyond IMTSS to include these applications on the STL standardised image and approved application portfolio; Maintains contact with users, technical staff and vendors to provide support as required; Prepare technical and user documentation as well as the production and distribution of training materials; Any other ad-hoc duties as required.

•Professionalism - Self motivated. Ability to perform with minimal supervision, and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines. •Technological awareness - Comprehensive technical experience and problem-solving skills in the area of Information systems and application support. Practical knowledge of software asset management and Microsoft Enterprise Software Licensing as they relate to area of assignment. Knowledge of application development lifecycle and knowledge in the area of comprehensive testing of software applications, especially on IBM Lotus Notes platform. •Communication - Good written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts and recommendations to non-technical staff at all levels, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise style. •Teamwork – Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Education: Completed secondary education supplemented by relevant technical training. Industry standard certifications in information systems and ITIL desirable. •Experience: At least 7 years of experience in information systems support environment with operating systems and desktop applications support, preferably with previous experience at the international level. Comprehensive knowledge in the area of software application development, testing and training. Previous experience with the procurement of information technology in an international environment would be an asset. Experience on development and maintenance of IBM Lotus Notes related applications is highly desirable. •Languages: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of the other official language(s) would be an asset.
