TENURE TRACK POSITION IN COMPUTATIONAL MATHEMATICS

Within the UT Research Institutes the field of Computational Mathematics is of vital importance. Computational Mathematics here refers to the broad area in mathematics including computational science, numerical methods and stochastic methods for partial differential equations. Current activities are motivated by and relevant for applications in the biophysical and technical sciences.
 
Successful candidates are expected to be pro-active individuals, ready and capable to create links between mathematics and the multi-disciplinary context at the University of Twente. We are looking for a highly talented research scientist who is specialized in the area of Computational Mathematics as described above.
 
The candidate will actively participate in the research within the Department and develop a profile by seeking collaboration with colleagues in UT Research Institutes MIRA and MESA+. Both institutes have a strong international reputation and offer ample opportunities for collaboration.
 
You are expected to acquire funding to build your own research line and research group, particularly via the NWO Innovational Research Incentives Scheme (VENI/VIDI/VICI)  and the European Research Council grants.
 
The Tenure Track in Computational Mathematics will be involved in the teaching program of the Department of Applied Mathematics and is also expected to transfer his own expertise to the master program. The candidate is required to obtain the Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO).    

Uw profiel
We expect a strong track record of innovative research and publications in leading international journals, and the ambition and potential to acquire personal research grants in the Netherlands and from EU, as well as external funding for fundamental and applied research. Moreover, the candidate should be an independently working researcher with at least two years of postdoctoral experience and with excellent communication skills.

Ons aanbod
The position is a Tenure Track position for a period of six years, which means that promotion from UD (assistant professor) to UHD (associate professor) and subsequently to professor is planned, based on individual performance agreements. Depending on experience and background, an initial appointment at UHD level is also possible. A definitive assessment will take place no later than five years, after which tenure is granted, given a positive review. Criteria for evaluation are an international visibility in research, including research funding and top publications, as well as teaching.

The terms of employment are in accordance with the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Universities (CAO). Depending on relevant work experience, the gross monthly salary for an employee on a full time basis ranges from € 3,259 to € 5,498. Employees are also entitled to a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and a year-end bonus of 8,3%.
