TENURE TRACK POSITION IN STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY

Statistics and Probability are essential in many application areas in science and technology. Any technological endeavor is confronted with limitations imposed by uncertainty or noise. In order to cover this important research area the Department offers a tenure track position in Statistics and Probability within the program Operations Research and Stochastics of the department of Applied Mathematics of the University of Twente. Research is embedded in the research institutes CTIT, MESA+ and MIRA.

You are a highly talented researcher in the area of Statistics and Probability with the ambition to establish an independent high-profile and internationally recognized research line within five years. You have a keen eye for both mathematics and its applications and feel that research and education should be closely intertwined.

We seek an excellent scientist, with independent ideas. The tenure track scientist is expected to acquire funding and develop her/his own line of research within the area of Statistics and Probability in the program Operations Research and Stochastics of the department of Applied Mathematics embedded in both mathematics and the application areas studied at the University of Twente.The tenure-track scientist is also expected to contribute to the educational bachelor or master programs in Applied Mathematics.

Uw profiel
Candidates must have an outstanding publication record, excellent leadership, communicational and management qualities, a strong vision on future development of the field and good teaching skills. Applicants must have a PhD in a scientific field relevant to Statistics and Probability and the ability to acquire external research funds.

You will be appointed in a Tenure Track position [in accordance with Clause 6.5a of the Collective Labour Agreement - Dutch Universities]. A Tenure Track contract enables you to direct your own career based on fixed performance agreements, in which context promotion from UD (assistant professor) to UHD (associate professor) and subsequently to professor is possible. An initial appointment at UHD level is also possible for candidates with appropriate experience. A definitive assessment will take place no later than five years after commencement of employment after which, following a positive review, employment for an indefinite period will be granted.

This vacancy is part of an incentive, in which twelve tenure track positions in mathematics will become available at Dutch universities and research institutes.
