Financial Services Authority Insurance Supervisor

Insurance Supervisor
£Competitive
Location: London
Ref: P00304

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) is an independent non-governmental body which regulates all providers of financial services in the UK. In 2013, the FSA will become two new authorities – the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). This is your chance to join us and be part of an exciting and historic transformation that’s set to revolutionise the UK regulatory system.

As part of our Prudential Business Unit (which falls within the PRA), you will be tasked with supervising retail and wholesale insurance firms in the UK. It involves gathering information in order to assess firms’ business models and prudential risks, identifying weaknesses and deciding on appropriate supervisory action. You will also conduct Solvency II/ICA reviews and oversee the introduction of new PBU supervision approaches. Your work will give you the opportunity to build relationships with senior managers from a wide range of organisations, as well as a unique insight into the financial services industry. There’ll also be the chance to hone your leadership skills by overseeing the team’s day-to-day activities and deputising for the supervision manager. Most importantly, you will make a positive impact on the financial services industry by influencing firms at the highest level and changing their behaviour.

You will receive comprehensive training for this varied role. However, to be considered, you must already have excellent financial analysis skills, knowledge of the insurance sector and a good grasp of prudential requirements in relation to insurance firms. You’ll also need credibility and well-developed interpersonal skills, which will help you manage teams and deal with people at all levels. We’re interested in your drive, organisation, business acumen and problem solving abilities. If you’re flexible enough to cope with fast-changing priorities and keen to experience a diverse and continually evolving sector, now’s the time to join us. We offer an intellectually challenging environment and great opportunities to advance your career.
