Lecturer Disaster Recovery Management

We are looking for:

a colleague for 0,6 fte to strengthen our team Development Studies, who can make an active contribution to the Bachelor course International Development Management (IDM) and the Professional Master course Management of Development (MOD).
The three IDM majors are Regional Development and Innovation, Fair Trade Management and Disaster Recovery Management. The four MOD specialisations are rural development and gender, rural development and HIV/AIDS, rural development and food security and rural development and communication.
All courses are taught in English and have a strong international focus. Staff is also involved international consultancy missions.

Job description
  • Developing competence based curricula and lecturing in the major “Disaster Recovery Management”;
  • Contribute to educational innovation;
  • Supervise students during their placements and thesis;
  • Contribute to (international) education projects.
We ask
  • Master degree in disaster management, human geography, environment studies or related fields;
  • 5+ years of relevant work experiences in disaster management and/or environmental issues;
  • Relevant and up-to-date international network;
  • Outstanding communication skills and a good command of the English language;
  • Affinity with international cooperation;
  • Affinity to gender equality;
  • Experiences with ‘building back better’;
  • Experiences with community based working, multi-stakeholder approaches; 
  • Experiences with local governance and human rights based approaches to development;
  • Proven didactical skills or willingness to take additional training.
We offer
You initially a temporary appointment of one year for 0,6 fte. The salary (depending on age and experience) is a maximum of € 4.365,16 gross per month for a fulltime position (in accordance with the Hay job profile docent 1) CAO HBO.
