Are you a self-motivated and sharp minded individual with experience of EU and Westminster Public Affairs?

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to:

  • Implement and refine the charity’s EU strategy;
  • Manage the charity’s engagement with external audiences, sustaining and broadening the charity’s network;
  • Monitor and report on the development of initiatives relevant to the charity (research, public health and charity);
  • Promote Cancer Research UK’s policy positions to relevant stakeholders and seek their support on priority issues;
  • Provide support to the Westminster Public Affairs team.

Now we need a Public Affairs Manager to join our award winning team and drive forward our activities at the EU level, working with the wider team to influence legislation that impacts on cancer and research in the UK.

You can help us save millions of lives through your:

  • Ability to develop and implement a strategy;
  • Willing to take a lead but also work with and manage others on a project basis;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Excellent organisation and project management skills;
  • Track record of strategic influencing and good negotiation skills;
  • Ability to prioritise work, manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines;
  • Practical experience of working in EU health/research policy;
  • Knowledge of a second European language, in particular French (desirable).

You’ll need the ability to engage and win people over, convey complex ideas succinctly and have tenacity. You’ll also need a comprehensive understanding of EU politics and strong interest in British politics to undertake what can be a challenging but exciting role!
You must also be willing to travel to Brussels approximately once a month as part of this role.
