Senior Policy Manager - Digital Economy
Working closely with the group chair and taking guidance from the director, director-general and other colleagues as appropriate:
  • Using the organisation’s vision and mission as a guide; develop the vision and mission for the digital economy policy group
  • Develop and manage a strategy, forward activity plan and schedule
  • Agree a working modus operandi with the chair, vice chairs and issue group leaders
  • Assist and ensure groups reach timely high- quality, well- articulated and clear positions. (use other resources eg writing specialists to assist as required)
  • Develop outreach and communications plans for each higher priority issues (use other resources eg communications specialists, event planners to assist as required)
  • Develop close working relationships with a network of policymakers, peers and other stakeholders essential to the creation and execution of those strategy and plans
Largely autonomously, but consulting as appropriate and indicated in the modus operandi:
  • Execute these outreach and communications plans using members and other staff (eg the director general)  as appropriate
- This will include personally giving speeches, writing articles, attending meetings, arranging events to explain positions etc
  • Manage the use of the resources in the team (currently a policy manager and intern(s))
  • Help the members of the team to develop professionally
  • Ensure the highest quality administrative support
  • Manage the team to provide monitoring of relevant developments
  • Contribute to the organisational success of DIGITALEUROPE
A high level of skill and experience in:
  • leadership: the ability to organise divergent interests around common goals and strategies
  • advocacy
  • digital economy issues and ideally the digital industry sector
  • European policy making
  • personal communications skills (written and oral)
  • management skills (people, strategies, resources and tasks)
  • using communications channels to best effect, including contemporary channels such as social media
  • being a team player
  • fluent in English
