About SMEC Urban
SMEC Urban is the urban development consulting division of SMEC Australia employing more than 170 staff including civil engineers, surveyors, town planners, urban designers and master planners, landscape architects and project managers.  We provide integrated consulting services needed to plan, design, construct and manage projects from concept to completion.
The role 
We are currently seeking a talented Urban Designer to work closely with our other specialists to deliver a range of Urban Design project.
·  The incumbent will be required to undertake a range of urban design projects including :-
o  subdivision design
o  master planning
o  feasibility studies
o  commercial redevelopment
o  urban renewal
·  Assist with the preparation of planning applications and reports and landscape architectural projects.
·  Assist in the provision of sound and accurate advice and expertise on urban design processes and principles.
·  Assist in the preparation of subdivision designs, master planning and urban design concepts for projects
·  Maintain a high level of technical expertise in urban design processes and principles.
·  Manage allocated urban design projects as directed.
·  Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
·  Monitor and manage project budgets and timelines.
·  Ability to work autonomously as required.
·  Actively participate in decision making processes for planning & urban design processes.
·  Undertake projects as directed by Manager & Team Leader.
With a minimum of 3-5 years experience in Urban Design, you must also have Tertiary qualifications to satisfy the requirements for Corporate Membership with the Planning Institute of Australia, Australian Institute of Landscape Architects or other similar professional organisation.
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.
