The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors.
Position Summary
The incumbent will provide engineering support to construction as part of the Upstream Gathering & Trunklines Team.

The incumbent will liaise with the construction contractors, construction management, field engineering team and home office engineering teams, specifically from the perspective of piping elements of the work.
Key Accountabilities
Core Accountabilities

Position Specific
• Liaise with Construction Management and Contractors clarifying all design aspects to ensure that they are safely and efficiently constructed to mechanical completion
• Review design packages / job packs to ensure that they are optimized and take due account of constructability issues
• Provide technical input to ensure technical completeness and integrity of constructed facilities. Maintain accurate records (as-built mark-ups, punch lists, etc.)
• Work directly with home office engineering team to conduct GIS surveys and design site run gathering routings in the field
• Conduct Engineering surveys and prepare detailed field sketches / reports / calculations
• Provide advice on the technical resolution of engineering and design queries and make recommendations
• Carry out inspections and verifications in accordance with the approved Inspection & Test Plans
• Cross-discipline liaison to ensure that due account is taken of other discipline requirements
• Indentify and manage interfaces between projects in order to optimise the sequence of work and prevent rework
• Provide required input to Company planning / scheduling / progress-monitoring / costing activities
• Interface with Quality Assurance/Quality Control personnel to address quality issues/progress
• Identify potential project change requests and provide information and data as required by the Project for change management
• Take an active role in auditing and verifying Contractor compliance with the Contract and Company standards and procedures
• Ensure that project standards and functional specifications are suitable and are being applied by the Contractor
• Provide Input into technical and progress reports to support flow of key information to management in order to assist with decision making

People Management
• The contractor must abide by company policy in relation to HR policies and procedures such as annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed
 
• Experience in engineering design, analysis, fabrication and construction
• Demonstrated experience as a field engineer in a construction/project environment
• Experience with Permit to Work (PTW) systems
• Experience in review of Contractors Procedures and ITP’s
• Demonstrated experience with field safety management and commitment to safety
• Experience working within a controlled change management culture to ensure that any changes are fully assessed
 
Knowledge, Languages,
Skills and Attributes
 
• Educated to Bachelors Degree, or equivalent, in relevant engineering discipline
• Knowledge of quantifying and assessing risk and developing risk mitigation strategies
• Knowledge of all facets of engineering design, fabrication / construction and testing
• Ability to guide, mentor and inspire other team members
• Ability to oversee and influence contractors and suppliers through design, procurement and construction phases of the project
• Ability to identify and manage interfaces and to work closely alongside engineering and construction teams throughout design, procurement and construction
